In case you missed the announcement, there is a Design Competition being held as part of the Northeast LA Riverfront Collaborative process. Despite your thoughts on this project, I hope you will consider submitting a project idea – there will be a winner in each of the five neighborhoods and a $2,000 prize. Submissions due Feb. 15th.
There is no shortage of great ideas in Elysian Valley and this competition is a strong platform to communicate the needs of the community. Although the submission requirements are geared towards artists, it would be great to ideas from the full range of stakeholders. There will be free workshops (taking place concurrently to the NELA Community Open House) taking place on Saturday, January 25th from 10am-2pm at the River Center to help community members develop their project ideas. Workshop stations will feature research & visualization support, ranging from information on the built environment to strategies for graphic, architecture, and landscape design. There will be Woodbury students who can help create a three dimensional representation of your help.
