  • EVNW AREA SURVEY

This survey is designed to help identify the primary public health and safety issues affecting the Elysian Valley community and to support efforts by the neighborhood watch, LAPD and City council office CD-13 to provide more effective crime prevention and public safety services to area residents and stakeholders. Your completion of this survey will help identify the most pressing problems to be addressed. Thank you for choosing to let your voice and opinion be heard via this survey and for your part in making Elysian Valley an even safer and better place to live, work and play.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so at your first opportunity.

  • Jardin Del Rio Community Garden Fundraiser

Please see the below deposit receipt in the amount of $1,174.00-the fruit of the fundraiser.  Thank you to the many who made this possible.

  • CD-13 Candidate Election Results
    • Mitch O’Farrell is our Council Elect and will take office July 1st
  • Mayoral Race Runoff Election Results
    • Eric Garcetti is our Mayor Elect and will take office July 1st

·         On Thursday May 30th  Congressman Adam Schiff, Mitch O’Farrell and Community members held a press conference in Elysian Valley urging Metrolink to study health risks of the Taylor Yards maintenance facility.

Congressman Adam Schiff said Taylor Yard trains are noisy and dirty. “Metrolink has consistently failed to address community fears about the health risk of living near the facility and stonewalled calls for a health assessment,” said Schiff.

L.A. City Councilman-elect Mitch O’Farrell also boosted calls for a study.  “As a Councilmember, I will demand nothing less than a health risk assessment, because if we don’t have a baseline of where we are now, then we won’t know how to proceed,” said O’Farrell.

  • LA River Recreation Zone in Elysian Valley

I have enjoyed the Kayak experience on the River and recommend it to all.  LA River Kayak Safari www.lariverkayaksafari.org has employed one of our local kids for this summer program and so far has had a majority of their kayak trips with locals on board at no cost. This group is headed by Steve Appleton and Grove Pashley both Elysian Valley neighbors and active Neighborhood Council representatives.  Steve is our current NC President and Grove is an active board member. You also know Grove from his active involvement in leading the effort to clean the Metrolink Tayloryard maintenance facility across the River.

Thank you for your much anticipated attendance and for your role in improving Elysian Valley.  Remember to report all criminal activity as no report=No crime, which in turn equals no LAPD resources to EV.

  1. What ever happened to the Dallas Street Stairway to the L.A. River Bike/Walkway Rehab Project. Now that we have a new Councilman in the district maybe things will get done in a more timely manner. Here’s hoping!
